Today I want to tell you about one amazing herb, Marsh Sabelnik.
Taking infusions, decoctions, tea from this plant cleans the body from the inside, removing the causes of joint pain. The effect of the application in combination with the ointment increases significantly.
Sabelnik in nature
Marsh cinquefoil grows in swampy places, along the shores of forest lakes. Decop
reaches a meter in height. Its leaves are elongated, with denticles, maybe that’s why it
named saber. The cup of the deco flower is dark purple, therefore
this plant is also called fire-grass.
The stem of the cinquefoil is branched, recumbent, rooting. Leaves
imparipinnate, 5–7 elongate-lanceolate leaves, upper ones trifoliate;
leaves are sessile, with a serrate margin, slightly reddish. Above the leaves are naked and dark green, below – densely pubescent, gray. The leaves of the plant are similar to the leaves of garden strawberries, only they are more oblong in shape, and there are 7 of them on the petiole. The dark purple petals with the same sepals look very impressive, they resemble purple stars. Flowers, collected in very loose false umbrellas, adorn the plant in June – July. Fruits are achenes, numerous, dry, glabrous, greenish-brown, flattened, with a filiform lateral column twice the length of the achene. I hope that after this detailed description, you can easily distinguish the saber from other marsh inhabitants.
Scientifically, the name of the marsh cinquefoil sounds like this: Comarum palustre, or Potentila palustrus. Family Rosaceae – Rosaceae Juss.
But the fact that there are dozens of popular names for cinquefoil suggests that this medicinal plant was very popular among our ancestors. As soon as this amazing plant was not called: swamp, bry-len five-leafed leaf, cloves, water decop, dicont, marsh strawberry, spool, bud legs, pabo, mint, matitsa, ogiroshnik, common fireflower, fireweed, ognevnik, large five-leafed grass, five-stick grass , five-finger, five-finger, conch, raspberry, marsh rose, fieldfare, bitter fieldfare, fieldfare, fieldfare, red cinquefoil, paint, joint, serebryak, dry berry, dry berry, wolf body, hare ears, horse garlic, wild raspberry, comb, cinquefoil swamp.
The plant grows almost throughout the entire European part of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, the Caucasus, Western and Eastern Siberia. General distribution: Western Europe, Scandinavia, Mongolia, China, the Korea Peninsula, Japan, North America. For medicinal purposes, herbs (stems, leaves, flowers) and rhizomes with roots are used.
Let me draw your attention to how properly prepared rhizomes should look like. These are hollow lignified tubular shoots of brown color. The color can range from golden brown to almost black, depending on the growing conditions of the plant and the depth of immersion. The inner cavity (like that of a reed) is necessary for the rhizomes to store oxygen. Otherwise, the underground parts of the plant would rot. All aquatic or marsh plants necessarily have air cavities in the underground parts.
How to distinguish between the aboveground and underground parts of a plant. Very simple. Firstly, small roots will extend from the nodes of the rhizome. Secondly, the stem has a greenish tint. Thirdly, you will not find modified leaf-scales on it.
The aerial part of the plant is also medicinal. In many cases, the whole plant is used for the preparation of medicines. Different parts of the plant should be harvested at different times. It depends on the season and lunar days.
Medical forms of short-term cleansing are best done during the new moon. It is at this position of the moon that the most intense, complete cleansing of the body from toxins occurs. However, one should not forget that before the full moon and on the full moon, you must definitely limit yourself in the consumption of food, especially fatty, fried and overcooked. Greens, vegetables, fruits – these are the food that a person needs these days.
The rhizomes of the miracle healer are used in the form of a decoction, tincture for rheumatism, osteochondrosis, radiculitis, stomach pains, bleeding, gastrointestinal tract disorders, diarrhea, flu, liver diseases, stomach and breast cancer.
A decoction of the plant is recommended for tuberculosis, thrombophlebitis, jaundice, neuralgic pain, hypotension, cholecystitis. They gargle with sore throat. The herb is used for metabolic disorders, for bites from rabid dogs, for uterine bleeding.
Externally used in the form of rinsing with periodontal disease and toothache.
Freshly harvested chopped grass is applied to festering wounds.
– Sabelnik renews weakened body cells and thus effectively treats all blood diseases, including lymphosarcoma, leukemia, lymphogranulomatosis.
Marsh cinquefoil, due to its unique ability to restore the structure of cartilage tissue and dissolve salt deposits, is the most effective folk remedy for arthritis and arthrosis.
– Marsh cinquefoil is effective in the treatment of polyarthritis, radiculitis, arthritis, osteoporosis, arthrosis, salt deposition.
Long-term intake of tincture of cinquefoil roots has a positive effect on the metabolism in the body. I would like to add that this fact also explains the antitumor activity of decop.

Elements and substances contained in the marsh cinquefoil
Marsh cinquefoil contains phosphorus, potassium, magnesium and copper in a unique physiological ratio. The underground part contains tannins, tannins, vitamin C (up to 170 mg), carotene, flavonoids (quercetin), the leaves contain various trace elements (phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, copper), aromatic acids (p-coumaric acid, ferulic acid) , in the rhizome – tannins, essential oil containing terpenoids (alpha and beta pinenes, terpineol).
Phosphorus in sabelnik
phosphorus strengthens bones, so we need to consume twice as much phosphorus as calcium. In addition, phosphorus is important for the normal functioning of the heart and kidneys, it participates in most metabolic reactions. Phosphorus is also responsible for the formation of nucleoproteins, which take part in cell division and in the reproduction of offspring.
Potassium in cinquefoil
potassium regulates acid-base balance of blood “Potassium participates in the transmission of nerve impulses, activates the work of a number of enzymes, activates the muscular work of the heart, and has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the skin and kidneys. Potassium has a protective effect against the unwanted effects of excess sodium and normalizes blood pressure. For this reason, in some cases, table salt is produced with the addition of potassium chloride. ” Potassium is able to increase the flow of urine, which is important in case of edema and poisoning for the rapid removal of toxins from the blood.
Magnesium in cinquefoil
“Magnesium is involved in bone formation, regulation of nervous tissue, carbohydrate metabolism and energy metabolism, – Magnesium improves blood supply to the heart muscle, has an antispastic vasodilator effect, stimulates the motor activity of the intestines and gallbladder, lowers blood cholesterol levels, therefore it is especially necessary for the elderly. the value of magnesium and how important it is that it is contained in a physiologically reasonable amount, because an excess of magnesium reduces the absorption of calcium. ” “With a lack of magnesium, irritability increases.” magnesium is involved in the transmission of nerve signals, helps to adapt to cold, serves as a structural component of bones and tooth enamel, and also takes part in muscle relaxation of blood vessels. Magnesium is involved in the exchange of phosphorus, helps to reduce blood pressure. “
Copper in a saber
“Copper participates in all redox reactions of the body, activates the action of many enzymes. With any inflammation, the need for copper increases. The use of copper is advisable and even necessary … “”. In the treatment of arthritis and arthrosis of any origin. ” About the amazing property of copper – to treat arthritis and arthrosis, about copper, I learned the following.
– With various diseases – hepatitis, cirrhosis of the liver, anemia, leukemia, diathesis, tuberculosis, meningitis and many others – the concentration of copper in the blood increases significantly. Moreover, there is a direct relationship between the content of copper in blood serum and an increase in body temperature as a result of inflammation. Copper plays a critical role in redox processes at the cellular level.
And now – attention: the lack of copper significantly complicates the treatment and prevention of inflammation.
– Copper activates the synthesis of hemoglobin, participates in the processes of cellular respiration and storage of oxygen in brain cells.
– Copper supports protein metabolism, participates in the construction of bone tissue.
– Copper ions are part of many enzymes.
– Copper is involved in the conduction of nerve impulses, normalizes the functioning of the nervous system.
– Copper is part of the pigments that provide color to our hair and skin.
– Provides good hair growth and has a beneficial effect on their condition. With a lack of copper, hair becomes brittle, dry and unruly.
Biologically active substances of the cinquefoil
The marsh plant is just a miracle, how good! tannins, ascorbic acid and carotene were found in the leaves of the cinquefoil. In addition, the herb cinquefoil contains large amounts of water-soluble saponins and small amounts of coloring and resinous substances, flavonoids, mucus, gums and essential oils, organic acids (isovaleric and isobutyric), methylheptinene, terpinsal and alpha-pinene. And the juice of the herb has phytoncidal activity, while the flowers of the decop contain anthocyanins (anticancer substances!) And anticoagulants that thin the blood.
Sabelnik is a selection from the collected works of a natural pantry!
And it gives the right to call the marsh cinquefoil one of the most powerful healers of Russia.
Anthocyanins are dyes (pigments) of plants of red, blue and purple colors. Anthocyanins have unique properties – they suppress the growth of tumors. Prepared from plants containing anthocyanins, aqueous and acidified infusions for several hours destroyed the bacteria of dysentery, typhoid, paratyphoid fever. Studies have shown that juices containing anthocyanins (for example, from lingonberries) completely eliminate Trichomonas infection in 100% of infected animals; at the same time, anthocyanins completely destroy such protozoan parasites as lamblia. Diseases caused by Trichomonas are difficult to treat with unsafe drugs. Thus, it is obvious that the use of anthocyanins for the destruction of the simplest parasites is promising (and the topic: this one, it seems to me, is very important for every person who wants to be healthy, we must begin to fight the dominance of parasites that have settled in his body!).
Flavonoids are substances found in higher plants. They consist of two components: sugar and non-sugar part – aglycone, which provides a medicinal effect. Some flavonoids have antiseptic and P-vitamin activity. These substances are used in the pharmaceutical industry for the manufacture of dyes, food antioxidants, antiseptics. The disadvantage of flavonoids is that they are quickly destroyed by improper preparation (drying) of raw materials (therefore, carefully read my recommendations for drying cinquefoil). The cinquefoil, as well as my favorite golden mustache, contains flavonides such as quercetin and kaempferol. I have already written about them, so I will just remind you of their wonderful abilities. Quercetin has antitumor activity, is used for hypo- and avitaminosis, allergic diseases, hemorrhages in the retina, impaired capillary function, rheumatism, nephritis, hypertension, measles, scarlet fever, typhus. Kaempferol is used in violation of the urinary system, is part of anti-inflammatory drugs.
Aromatic acids belong to the group of organic acids that contain a benzene ring; they have the greatest therapeutic effect among organic acids. The herb contains p-coumaric and ferulic acids. P-coumaric and ferulic acids are very effective, that is, they protect the liver from toxins (poisons). Now you probably understand why the cinquefoil is an excellent body cleaner!
Tannins, or tannins
Tannins, or tannins, get their name from their ability to tan leather and make them impervious to water. Usually, oak bark was used for this purpose, so the process was called tanning, and the substances were called tanning. Tannins bind salts of heavy metals and promote their elimination from the body. The rhizomes of the cinquefoil contain ellagic acid, which is a tannin. Ellagic acid has antitumor, antimutagenic activity, is used as a prophylactic anticancer agent (here’s another explanation for why cinquefoil is used in the treatment of cancer).
Terpenoids are widespread in nature, mainly in plant organisms, less often in animal organisms. Triterpenes belong to glycosides, they have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antiviral activity, have a stimulating effect, and increase immunity. They also make up the bulk of a very popular remedy – turpentine. Alpha and beta pinenes and terpineol can be found in the essential oils of cinquefoil. Alpha and beta pinenes have a local irritant, antiseptic, expectorant, diuretic effect. It is their presence that explains the use of cinquefoil for colds and coughs, as well as for cleaning the body. Sabelnik is a diuretic. Moreover, if you carefully study the composition of modern bath gels, cosmetics for skin care, you will surely find this compound with a very strange name; it provides the antiseptic properties of these agents.
Terpeniol is formed in conifers and gives the air a fresh scent. It is this substance that is used in many air fresheners; in addition, it has amazing healing properties. It is used for allergies and respiratory diseases – asthma. Due to terpeniol, the air in the pine forest is practically devoid of bacteria, and operations can even be performed under the crowns of cedars. This is the antiseptic power of this substance. And our beloved saber is not deprived of it.
Beta-carotene is one of the natural carotenoids, of which there are over 600. Carotenoids are yellow to red pigments that are widespread in plants. Beta-carotene is a precursor of vitamin A. It improves the functioning of the body’s immune system, skin condition. But here’s the important thing: As a powerful antioxidant, beta-carotene converts free radicals of oxygen molecules into ordinary molecules. Thus, it helps to reduce the risk of developing oncological and other diseases arising from the increased environmental load on humans; activates the function of leukocytes and thereby contributes to the prevention of infectious and colds. In addition, beta-carotene contributes to the preservation of vitamin C in the body and improves cellular metabolism.
Beta-carotene, which is part of the cinquefoil, is recommended for use:
– as a prophylaxis of oncological diseases;
– with cardiovascular diseases;
– with gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer;
– with exposure to infections (especially respiratory).
take during certain courses, one of them is designed for 40 days of daily intake. Prepare a tincture on the crushed dried roots of the cinquefoil (about 2/3 cup volume). They are placed in a half-liter jar, poured with vodka, tightly closed with a lid and insisted in a dark place for 2-3 weeks, shaking occasionally (once every 1-2 days).
How the tincture is taken. Take 1 teaspoon 3 times a day after meals. The course of treatment is 1–1.5 months. After a month, the course of treatment is repeated. When used externally, rub into a sore spot 2-3 times a day and wrap it with a woolen cloth.
